My SF based friend Dan just posted this article on his Facebook page. And though it is most incredibly interesting that someone would completely terrorize their local Salvation Army in the name of good samaritanship; what really fascinates me, is that someone working there knew that Civil War cannonballs mostly had gunpowder in them, and thus this donated cannonball could blow them all to pieces. Fascinating, because in all my good learning and edumacation, I have never heard this fact, or rather had never retained it. So I am currently and probably only currently fascinated by the idea of cannonballs, not just sinking fictional Disney purchased ships sailed by Johnny Depp, but blowing him sky high as well. Maybe the ghost pirates will get a hold of some by the time Pirates 8 comes out. So alas dear friends the ultimate question is, did that person see said cannonball, run miles away, and then call the police? Hopefully if they’re as smart about living as they are about civil war era weaponry, they totally did.

Today I discovered the episode entitled, Keep On Truckin, from “Love Bites”. The new NBC summer show that is big on castand teeny-tiny-itty-bitty-minuscule on story line, actually had the power to develop a story line I liked, that was ALSO filled with emotion AND reasonable music choices. Crazy! I won’t ruin the storyline for you, but it made me realize that I actually like Laura Prepon and her freakish tallness after all of the those years of feeling indifferent towards Donna on ”That 70’s Show”. I also learned that I can spot a fake ponytail from like 50 yards away. And I’m not psychic, but I believe you will discover that ability in yourself as well.

Today I discovered someone named “The Weeknd”. Okay, well someone told me about him, but the word discovery is broad here my friends. No, that is not a misspelling. There is no e. Hey it works for this site, so why not?! The Weeknd, provides a sexual and unique blend of hip-hop and R&B. People think these genres always go hand in hand, but finding someone who can do both is very rare, and often comes in female form (Lauryn, Nicki). But this hip&B-er is a little different, both anatomically and because he’s Canadian. Oh Canada, the land of the artistically explorative. Michael Cera, I’m looking at you, because you’re standing in the way of Justin Bieber. Now I wish I knew more about him, besides his real name, which is not as cool as The Weeknd, so I’m not even going to mention it. You can wiki on your own time. Michael Cera, I’m looking at you again, now just because I like that red hoodie you’re wearing, The Gap, right?
The Weeknd, no e, no Michael Cera, will be touring with fellow Canadian Drake, coming to a stage near you. Or not, depends all on where you live. Enjoy his website, complete with free album download. And don’t ever say I never gave you a link with a free album download.

Today I discovered, EW’s recaps of the sing-mazing show “The Voice”. If you are not watching “The Voice”, you are missing what will probably be THE talent extravaganza of the summer! Seriously! (Which is a phrase I coined first, Grey’s Anatomy.) The celeb judges, though sometimes a little overkill in regards to taking a moment of critique for a performer and making it about their 4 way sexual tension, I’m especially looking at you Boob-tina, are often times funny and snarky and it’s amazing to see how much famous people truly love themselves and others like them, i.e. other famous people. But every now and then, famous and other famous people sometimes successfully and sincerely nuture other non-famous nobodies (except the girl who wrote Reba’s last number one single), who will someday become famous and love themselves too much as well. Anywho, I digress…I am a TV recap lovah! Nymag.com does them with the best, but the EW recaps of ”The Voice” are that perfect combo of mean and funny that I crave from my recaps and 1/3 of my friends. The link, is the one from last night’s performances, but I definitely encourage you to work your way backwards and catch up. And if you’ve never seen it, then pity is what I offer to you my friend.

So I know that Wrock aka Wizard Rock is not new, as I learned last night from my roomie Michelle, and from all of my supposed Harry Potter obsessed “friends” who could’ve hipped me to the one of the most amazing things I have ever heard of. I mean bands named after Harry Potter characters, singing from the perspective of said characters, and rhyming made up wizarding lingo to create catchy lyrics, with swinging melodies! Ah! I don’t know if I’ll recover. But even though I had never heard of Wrock, a lot of my HPers didn’t know it was a movement. So I feel that even if this is not new to you, all the videos that live on the side of this video by Draco and The Malfoys, hopefully will be!

So I wanted to call this blog, “You Learn Something New Everyday” but that’s not my style to convey my emotions and intentions in a straightforward and word simplistic manner. Therefore, welcome to The Daily Sparkle! Because that’s the way you say that other thing, in my language. Style, TV, medicine, ways to dump someone, ways to make yourself happy, swearing in foreign tongues, if it’s new to me, it’s going here! And hopefully we can grow and learn. What say ye? That’s ye olde English. See, it’s already full blown can’t stop, won’t stop. Enjoy this picture from my first day at my first Coachella this year, where I learned that there is nothing more beautiful than a sunset in the California desert.
